Lessonade School uses Lessonade to share recorded lectures with its students. This page explains, in plain words, what information we keep, why, and who can see it.
What we collect
- Your account: name, email address, username, and your password (stored only in scrambled, “hashed” form, so nobody can read it). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google.
- Your courses: which courses you joined, and invitations you received.
- Your activity in each course: when you last opened a lecture, and how far you watched each lecture (where you stopped, how much you watched, and whether you finished it). We keep one summary per lecture, not a log of every click.
- Your feedback: whether you marked a lecture as helpful or not.
- Technical information: login sessions to keep you signed in, and your IP address for a short time, to block abuse such as repeated wrong passwords.
Why we collect it
- To let you sign in and watch the lectures of your courses
- To let you continue where you left off, and see which lectures you’ve finished
- To help your teachers understand which lectures students watch and find helpful, so they can improve them
- To keep the platform secure
Who can see what
- You: your own courses, progress, and feedback.
- Your teachers: for their own courses only, the students enrolled, when each was last active, and which lectures each student has completed. Teachers see only the total number of “helpful” and “needs improvement” votes, never who voted.
- Administrators at Lessonade School: all courses, teachers, and students at the school, including each person’s name, username, email address, which lectures they have completed, and when they were last active. Like teachers, they see only vote totals, never who voted. Administrators can also make a student a teacher, or give a teacher administrator access; every such change is recorded.
- Nobody else. We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use it for advertising.
Where it's stored
- Lecture videos: Amazon Web Services, in Canada.
- Account and course information: Neon (a database service), in the United States.
- Both are protected with encryption and access controls.
How long we keep it
As long as your account exists. If you’d like your account and data deleted, contact us at the school office.
